Gracey Curette 1-2 – Double-Ended, Hollow-Handle Periodontal Curette

Description
The Gracey Curette 1-2 is an area-specific periodontal instrument designed for precise supragingival and subgingival scaling and root planing — especially suited for anterior teeth (incisors and canines). The 1-2 pattern provides optimal access and adaptation to the root surfaces of front teeth, enabling removal of plaque, calculus, and biofilm with minimal tissue trauma. The double-ended design gives two working blades on a single instrument, and the hollow handle offers a lighter, ergonomically balanced feel with increased tactile sensitivity and control.

Key Features

  • Area-Specific Blade Design (1/2) — The blade is offset (angled ≈ 70° from the shank), creating a single effective cutting edge, which allows selective removal of deposits while preserving soft tissue integrity.

  • Optimized for Anterior Teeth (Incisors & Canines) — The 1-2 configuration is specifically crafted for the contours and root anatomy of anterior teeth, enabling smooth adaptation and effective root-surface debridement.

  • Double-Ended Construction — Two working ends on one instrument increase efficiency: clinicians can readily switch sides for mesial or distal surfaces without changing instruments, improving workflow during periodontal therapy.

  • Hollow / Lightweight Handle — A hollow cylindrical handle reduces overall weight, offering enhanced tactile feedback and reducing operator fatigue — advantageous during prolonged scaling and root planing sessions.

  • Rounded Toe and Semi-Circular Cross-Section — These design features minimize risk of soft-tissue trauma and allow the instrument to glide smoothly along root surfaces without gouging.

  • Stainless Steel Construction — Made from high-grade stainless steel, providing corrosion resistance, durability, and suitability for repeated sterilization/auto-claving cycles.

Applications

  • Supragingival and subgingival scaling and root planing on anterior teeth (incisors and canines).

  • Removal of plaque, light to moderate calculus deposits, and biofilm from anterior tooth root surfaces.

  • Periodontal maintenance therapy and prophylactic cleanings in anterior regions.

  • Fine debridement of root surfaces in narrow pockets around anterior teeth where gentle, controlled instrumentation is essential.

Ideal For

  • Dental hygienists, periodontists, and clinicians performing manual scaling and root planing in anterior regions.

  • Clinics and practices emphasizing precise, atraumatic periodontal instrumentation.

  • Students and educators in dental hygiene or periodontology training — good for mastering area-specific root-surface adaptation.

  • Practices that prefer ergonomic, lightweight instruments to reduce hand fatigue during repeated scaling procedures.
