Upper molar extraction forceps, pattern 53L, for the left side of the upper jaw. The 53L has a pointed beak that engages the buccal furcation between the two buccal roots of an upper first or second molar, and a rounded beak that fits over the single palatal root.
It is the left-side partner to the 53R. Matching the beaks to the root anatomy gives a secure grip below the crown, so the tooth can be luxated with controlled buccal and palatal movements before delivery.
