Mallets

Surgical mallets drive osteotomes, chisels, gouges and impactors. Weight, head material and face size decide how the blow is delivered: a light mallet for fine nasal and ear work, a heavier one for orthopaedic osteotomy and implant seating. This collection also includes reflex (percussion) hammers for neurological examination.

Order single mallets or send a list for a quote. Every instrument carries our 5-year warranty.

What This Collection Covers

  • Surgical mallets — Lucae, Hajek, Heath, Bergman, Mead and Kirk patterns
  • Nylon-cap mallets — replaceable nylon faces that reduce rebound and protect instrument handles
  • Impactors — for seating grafts and implants
  • Percussion hammers — Taylor, Troemner and Rabiner reflex hammers

Solid Steel or Nylon Face?

A solid steel head delivers a sharp, concentrated blow. A nylon or composite face softens the impact, rebounds less and is kinder to osteotome handles. Many surgeons keep one of each.

How to Choose

Weight. Light mallets (such as Lucae) for ENT, nasal and hand surgery; heavier mallets for long bone and spine.

Reflex hammers. Taylor is the classic triangular head; Troemner is weighted for deeper tendon reflexes.

Frequently Asked Questions
