Raspatories

Raspatories and rasps lift periosteum from bone or reshape the bone surface itself. A raspatory has a sharp-edged blade pushed along the bone to strip periosteum or muscle attachments; a rasp has a toothed or filed surface that removes bone in fine layers, as in rhinoplasty hump reduction.

This collection covers nasal, rib, general and micro patterns. Order single instruments or a set; every instrument carries our 5-year warranty.

Raspatory or Rasp?

Use a raspatory to separate tissue from bone without removing bone. Use a rasp when the goal is to reduce or smooth bone. In rhinoplasty, rasps are chosen by cut direction (push or pull) and tooth coarseness, finishing with a fine rasp.

How to Choose

Anatomy. Nasal dorsum: nasal rasps. Ribs: a Doyen raspatory, which comes as a right and left pair. Spine and cranium: micro and fine raspatories.

Tooth pattern. Coarse teeth remove bone quickly; fine teeth leave a smooth finish.
