Hennig-pattern plaster cast spreader, 28 cm overall length. After a cast has been cut along its length with a saw or shears, the spreader's jaws are inserted into the cut and the handles are squeezed to open the cast so the limb can be lifted out.
Spreading the cast rather than prying it open with a sharp tool keeps the edges away from the skin and makes removal quicker and more comfortable for the patient. Used in orthopedic clinics, fracture clinics and emergency departments. German surgical-steel construction.
