About this instrument
A Gigli saw is a flexible, serrated wire that cuts bone with a back-and-forth pulling motion. A handle hooks onto each end of the wire, so two are needed to use one saw. The pair gives the surgeon a firm grip at both ends and keeps the wire under even tension, which makes for a controlled cut in amputation, craniotomy and other orthopedic procedures.
