Pocket Otoscope or Rigid Telescope?

A pocket otoscope is a self-contained handle and head with a speculum, used for everyday examination. A rigid otoscope telescope gives a magnified, brighter view on a camera monitor and is used in ENT clinics for documentation and ear procedures.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does fibre optic mean on an otoscope?
Light is carried through fibres to the tip of the speculum, giving bright light without a bulb in the line of sight.

What is pneumatic otoscopy?
Gently changing pressure in the ear canal with an inflation bulb to see whether the eardrum moves, which helps assess middle ear fluid.
