Yasargil instruments are the microneurosurgical range developed around the techniques of Mahmut Gazi Yasargil, whose work established microsurgery as the standard approach to the brain and spine. The defining feature is the bayonet shaft: the handle is offset away from the axis of the tips, so the surgeon's hand and the instrument shaft stay out of the line of sight when working down a narrow operative corridor. That single design choice is why the pattern dominates deep-field microsurgery.
This is one of the deepest Yasargil ranges we carry, spanning bayonet and micro forceps, micro scissors, needle holders, suction tubes, dissectors, raspatories, curettes, ligature carriers and a pituitary rongeur — across graduated tip sizes and working lengths. Individual practices can order any instrument directly. Hospital procurement teams, distributors and buyers working to a tender or RFQ can contact our team for bulk pricing and quoted line items.

View full detailsIn microneurosurgery the operative field sits at the bottom of a narrow corridor, often viewed down a microscope. A conventional straight instrument puts the surgeon's hand and the shaft directly between the eye and the tips. The bayonet offset steps the shaft sideways so the working end stays visible at depth.
It is the reason almost every instrument in this range — forceps, scissors, needle holders, dissectors alike — shares the same shaft geometry, and why the pattern carries across into spinal and other deep-field procedures well beyond its neurosurgical origin.
Tip size. Micro forceps here come in 0.6mm and 0.9mm. The finer 0.6mm tips suit the most delicate manipulation; 0.9mm gives more purchase where a slightly firmer grip is needed. Match the tip to the structure, not to preference.
Working length. The range runs roughly 160mm to 245mm. Depth of the corridor decides this — too short forces awkward hand positioning against the wound edge, too long costs control at the tip.
Straight, curved or curved-down blades. Straight blades cut directly ahead. Curved blades follow tissue planes and keep the tips visible. Curved-down profiles reach over structures without lifting the hand into the sightline.
Serrated or smooth. Serrated micro scissor blades hold tissue as they close, which resists slipping on mobile or slick tissue. Smooth blades give a cleaner cut on fine structures.
Who was Yasargil?
Mahmut Gazi Yasargil is the Turkish neurosurgeon whose development of microneurosurgical technique in the 1960s and 1970s made operating on deep intracranial structures routine. The instrument patterns carrying his name were designed around that approach.
What does bayonet-shaped mean?
The shaft is stepped or bent so the handles sit off the axis of the tips. Working at depth, that keeps your hand and the shaft out of your own line of sight to the working end.
What is the difference between 0.6mm and 0.9mm tips?
Tip width at the working end. 0.6mm is the finer of the two and is chosen for the most delicate handling; 0.9mm offers a firmer grip. Both are stocked across several working lengths.
Do you supply Yasargil instruments individually or as sets?
Individually — every instrument in this collection can be ordered on its own. For a full microsurgical schedule, send us your instrument list and our team will quote it line by line, with bulk pricing for distributors and hospital procurement.
Can you source a Yasargil pattern not listed here?
