Why Continuous Flow?

The uterine cavity is a closed space. To see inside it, it has to be distended with fluid, and that fluid clouds quickly with blood and debris. A continuous-flow system uses an inner sheath to bring fluid in and an outer sheath to draw it out. The view stays clear and the pressure stays steady without pausing to flush.

That is why so many listings here are sheath pairs: the inner and outer sheaths, and the bridge that connects them to the scope, have to match.

How to Choose

Diagnostic or operative. A diagnostic sheath is slim and quick. An operative sheath adds a working channel for semi-rigid instruments.

Outer diameter. Smaller diameters (around 4–5.5mm) suit office hysteroscopy with little or no dilation. Larger operative systems and 22Fr resectoscopes handle fibroids and polyps.

System compatibility. Sheaths, bridges and working elements are system-specific. Each listing names the platform — Storz, Olympus, Wolf — or states the Storz- or Olympus-style fitting.

Instrument size. Semi-rigid forceps and scissors are listed by French size and length; match them to the working channel.
