Resectoscopes

A resectoscope removes tissue from the bladder, prostate or uterus under direct vision, using an electrosurgical loop that passes through a sheath alongside the telescope. It is assembled from several parts — outer and inner sheaths, obturator, working element, telescope, electrode and cable — and each has to match the system and French size.

Continuous Flow or Intermittent Flow?

A continuous-flow resectoscope has an inner and outer sheath: irrigation flows in through one and out through the other, keeping the view clear without stopping to drain. Intermittent-flow designs use a single sheath and are emptied periodically. Continuous flow is the usual choice for longer resections.

How to Choose

System and size. Match the sheath to your working element, telescope and French size. Inner and outer sheaths must pair.

Energy. Monopolar and bipolar systems use different electrodes and cables; confirm which your generator uses.
